BEAVERCREEK HERITAGE DAYS AND HERB DAYS ![]() Beavercreek Heritage Days and Herb Days are for the entire family, adults and children alike at Wartinger Historical Park, 3080 Kemp Road in Beavercreek. Admittance to the park is free, and there is free parking at the Board of Education parking lot. The handicapped entrance is next to the 1858 Tobias...Zimmer Barn. There are two restrooms located behind the fire station and near the Harshman House. This two-day event is held the third week-end in September, Sat. 10-6 and Sun. 11-5. There
are lots of activities for
the children. In 2007, they made a rag doll, talked to a
woodcarver, visited the seedsavers, made a top, used a
washboard, petted small animals, shelled corn, colored old
fashioned scenes and had a bean bag toss. We had a Penny Candy Store, too. Kids bought
lots of things for
a dime! Horses, Hank and Hobby took folks for a ride on their wagon. It
was a lot of fun. Heritage
Days offered pulled pork sandwiches, hot dogs, slaw,
Sarsaparilla and Birch Beer. A specialty of Heritage Days and
Herb Days are the pies and cookies. Kids who completed their activities
got a free cookie at the food tent. The Kittyhawk Squares squaredanced
in the 1858 Tobias...Zimmer Barn on Saturday.
There are local artisans, too. Folks who came in 2007 bought from basket makers, wood carvers, and candles and soap makers. There were toy bears and pottery, too. Some people arranged to have their chairs caned or put in a special order to have a dead tree in the backyard, carved. We had tatting and rug hooking demonstrations as well as a demo of using old tools. The Flower Trail Garden Club made their herbs into wreaths, garlands, topiaries and other herbal creations at their annual herb sale. Also, available at the herb sale in the 1811 Nicodemus House were baked goods, dried herbs, seasonal decorations, pressed flower items, potpourri, vinegar, and small notepads. This is the Flower Trail annual fundraiser, and the Flower Trail Garden Club offers free tours of their herb gardens at Herb Days, too. Heritage Days also offers tours of 4 log houses and barn. They are the 1803 Harshman House, the 1805 Jarusiewic Cabin (replica), the 1811 Nicodemus House, the 1828 Ankeney House, and the 1858 Tobias...Zimmer Barn. The Beavercreek Historical Society sponsors Heritage Days, and the Flower Trail Garden Club sponsors Herb Days. ![]()
